Arabic is not
a setting here.

Arabic is the language the work gets done in, not a translation of an English product.

AimUnderstand why this is an engineering position rather than a localisation feature.

This is a matter of engineering, not localisation. The structure of the language changes how the work must be done, which means it changes what has to be built rather than what has to be translated.

A product that treats Arabic as a preference will show it in the first week of real use: in how names sort, how documents read, how a procedure written in Arabic is followed rather than approximated.

The Arabic site is being written as a second original rather than a translation of this one. It is better to publish in English only than to publish Arabic that a Gulf professional would not recognise as their own register.
