A worker joins the
way a person joins.

Five steps. They read like onboarding because that is what they are.

AimKnow what the first weeks look like, and who is involved at each step.

  1. Step 01

    The role is defined

A job description in your language. What the work is, what finished looks like, and who it answers to.

  2. Step 02

Its authority is set with you

What it may do alone. What it may only propose. What it may never touch. Agreed before it starts, with the people who carry the risk.

  3. Step 03

    It learns your procedures

Your steps, your exceptions, your systems. Not generic best practice.

  4. Step 04

    It starts under supervision

Narrow authority at first, widened only as its work is reviewed and found sound.

  5. Step 05

    It is reviewed

Like any member of staff. Corrected where it is wrong, retired when the work changes.

Supervision

Authority starts narrow
and widens on evidence.

A class of action moves from proposed to autonomous when the approver has seen enough of it to say, on the record, that the judgement is sound. It moves back the same way.

Supervision: propose, approve, review, then widen or narrow, returning to approval rather than to the start. PROPOSE APPROVE REVIEW WIDEN OR NARROW authority is revisited, not assumed
The loop returns to approval rather than to the start, because it is supervision and not a process cycle.
