Authority is defined before the worker starts, not apologised for afterwards. Anything that carries consequence is held until a named person signs.

AimBe able to answer the blocker's question: if this goes wrong, can I explain it?

01 / Three tiers

Every worker holds three kinds of permission and no others.

  • It does this alone

Routine work, inside limits agreed in advance with the people who carry the risk.

  • It proposes this. A person signs.

Anything carrying consequence stops and waits. It goes to a named person, and it does not move until that person approves it.

    Approved by

    Time

  • It may never touch this

Set out at the start. The worker cannot exceed the authority it was given.

02 / The record

Every action, and the name
of whoever approved it.

Trust is not a feeling. It is a record. Four things are written for everything a worker does, and none of them can be quietly edited afterwards.

  • What happened

    The action itself, in full.

  • Who authorised it

    By name, not by role.

  • When

    To the minute.

  • What it could not touch

The limits in force at the time.

A record showing what changed, who asked, who approved it, and when. The approver is named. HELD UNTIL A PERSON SIGNED WHAT CHANGED WHO ASKED WHO APPROVED WHEN Due date moved to 22 September S. Al-Harbi M. Othman 09:26, 14 Sep
A record as it is written. The approver is named, and is the only thing on this page in colour.

The test

A director can ask what a worker
did last Tuesday, who approved it,
and what it was not allowed to
touch, and get an answer.
