Supervision

Supervising a worker

What the accountable person actually does, day to day and at review.

A worker reports to a named person. That person approves what needs approving, reviews what was done alone, and decides when authority should widen or narrow.

Review is periodic and evidenced. The question at review is not whether the worker was fast. It is whether its judgement inside the stated limits was sound, and whether anything it escalated should have been handled alone, or anything it handled alone should have been escalated.

Correction is ordinary. A worker that gets something wrong is corrected the way a person would be: the role or the procedure is amended, the amendment is recorded, and the change takes effect from a stated point rather than retroactively.
